No Weapon Prevails Against Faith

“No weapon forged against you will prevail and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and this is their vindication from me, declares the Lord.” Isaiah 54:17 (NIV)

This scripture promise has been “plastered” on my Shield of Faith (Ephesians 6:16) for decades. As 1 Peter 1:3-5 says, we have an imperishable inheritance, “kept in heaven for you (us), who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.” 1 Peter 1:5 (NIV) In Isaiah 54:17, God says that this authority against every evil or ungodly plan or word against us is our HERITAGE. Furthermore, it is specially given to us as a VINDICATION from the Lord!

Our Jesus has armed us for battle against our enemies. As Jehovah Nissi, He has made a profound declaration on our behalf, and His word is unchangeable. He is trustworthy! So, why do some of us go to battle victoriously, while others get trampled?

First of all, Jesus told the Apostles that “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33 (NIV) From the time of Adam and Eve at the fall into sin in the Garden, the human race has had trouble, sin, sickness, and disease. Unfortunately, the whole world was affected, and sin passed through our generations. We share the same enemy. Jesus’ death and resurrection defeated our enemy, the adversary, through the cross, but he still pushes to ensnare, defeat, and destroy those of us made in God’s image. (Genesis 1:26) There is a spiritual battle that rages around us.

The good news is that the Lord provided us with authority in that battle. When we make Jesus our Lord and Savior, there is a transformation in our spiritual life. We receive the Spirit of God living inside us. We become the new temple of God. Christ is in us, but we are also in Christ. The incredible authority that Christ has is now available to us. And God means for us to use it!

We use that authority as God directs in the Bible. When the enemy steps over to take our territory that God has given us, we command him to halt, just like a policeman with a badge has delegated authority to stop traffic. At Infusion Ministries, we declare out loud something like this: “By the power and the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ, I command, I don’t suggest, that any and all evil trying to influence me, my mind, or my body, to leave my presence. I am a child of the Most High God and my mind is my own, a quiet place for just me and God. I am free to hear the voice of God and walk in freedom.”

We also recite a Prayer of Submission to God since the presence of God is even greater than the absence of evil. We also pray this out loud: “Dear Heavenly Father, I know that You are here with me now and present in my life. I believe that You alone are all powerful and mighty. I draw near to You and ask that You would draw near to me. I ask You to speak to me; I don’t want to hear the words of man, I want to hear from You. I ask You to protect my thoughts and my mind. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit and lead me into all truth. Show me how to walk free today, in Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.”

Our faith and the authority God delegated to us do prevail against the schemes of the enemy. Our responsibility is to walk in our faith and authority. God has given us the ability to declare His words, sending forth scripture promises like Isaiah 54:17, quoted above. We have been assured in Isaiah 55:11 (NKJV), “So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.”

While we are in Christ and receive a nudge from the Holy Spirit about a particular scripture, we can pray to remove the enemy from the room, submit to God, invite His presence, and proclaim what the scripture promises. In this case, we would declare, “By the power and the blood…”, invite the Lord’s rule, “Dear Heavenly Father, I know that you are here with me now…” and proclaim that, “No weapon forged against me will prevail and my heritage in Christ is that I refute every tongue that accuses me. This assignment against me is broken off, in Jesus’ name. Enemy, be silenced.”

Don’t be shy and don’t be kicked around anymore! Prayer is your weapon, and it has a sharp two-edged sword to wield that is waiting for you to step forth.
